“To sum up my career on Manhattan so far, I would say, ‘blood, sweat, and tears.’ The blood describes the first
few years I had Manhattan where he bucked me off nearly every day, sometimes multiple times a day. The tears cover the next
several years where Manhattan had a knack for being 12 different horses in one and the frustration often brought me to tears. Now,
it is simply sweat. He and I are such a team, and he comes out ready to give me his all, every day.
In 2007 we were the FEI Intermediate II Champions in the Open Division for USDF Region 3. We competed in the Brentina Cup at the
USEF Dressage Festival of Champions in Gladstone, New Jersey finishing third with a score of 63.689%. Manhattan finished second
nationally in the USDF Horse of the Year at Intermediate II with a median score of 66.890%.
When Manhattan was three years old Toine said to me, ‘this is a Grand Prix horse’. He was right.
Manhattan and I started our first Grand Prix season together in 2008. We worked our way into
top 20
USEF Grand Prix national rankings earlier in the year and finished the year with a
top 250
FEI World Dressage ranking.
Manhattan also helped me earn my USDF Gold Medal in 2008 and finished the year
ranked 36th nationally in the
USDF in the Dressage Horse of the Year at the Grand Prix Level.
My goal is to continue competing him on the big tour and hopefully take him back to Europe to compete.” - Jodie
